one last picture

One last picture for today. This one was when Gabe was trying to pull the camera out of my hand - already!
Poor Gabe woke up yesterday from his nap with quite the do! The picture doesn't even give it justice - the scary hair monster paid a visit, and wasn't very nice.

And if the scary hair monster wasn't enough - the poor little guy had a great big zit right in the middle of his chin. This isn't one of those sweet looking baby pimple - it's a full blown teenage zit. Poor fella.
But even with the zit, and the funky hair - Gabe could still win a cutest baby contest any day of the week! Especially with those kissy lips!

Digital Scrappin

So I've given digital scrapbooking a try, and I think I've been bit by the digi bug! I love it! It is so simple, and if you don't like what you have done - it's ok. You can erase it and start over - and you don't even have any wasted paper/products. It's been lots of fun! Now just to decide if I should leave them on disk, print the pages.....what to do. That's been my biggest dilema. So here are a couple of layouts.

I have had a goal to scrapbook at least one page a week since the beginning of the year. I haven't been sharing them because they're all 12 x 12, and since it's a pain to scan them, I just skip it. But I thought I'd share the one I did tonight, as well as the picture frame I made earlier in the week. I just took pictures of them on my desk.

The second picture is of the frame I made. It's cool - it's designed so that you cover the frame with whatever (in this case I did it like a scrapbook page - to match my office). I just did a layout and cut out the spot for the glass for the picture to go. Then I used decopauge to stick the 'scrapbook page' to the frame. Then it has a place for a photo that I can change out. I am going to go pick up some more at the craft store, it was a lot of fun to create!

Gabe - right now

I just posted a huge post, and then my computer froze up and lost it all. Lovely! Anyway, I’ll try my best to recreate what I posted.

I haven’t taken many pictures of Gabe lately. I have tried to enjoy being with him more, and focus on making sure I catch all of the pictures less. I think too often the scrapbooker in me would focus on getting the photos more than making the memory, and I don’t want to do that with his childhood. However, there are some interesting little things I wanted to share about our lives right now.

  • Rolling – WOW! Gabe rolls like crazy – I think he was meant to be a rolly-polly. He loves to roll under things especially – like the couch (which he doesn’t fit under), coffee table, our bed – he is so curious about what’s under there! He also gets so frustrated when he starts rolling into something – like a wall. He tries and tries to get through and can’t understand why he can’t keep going. It’s interesting to watch this aspect of his personality. He also likes to play steamroller and try to roll over things (like me when I’m lying on the floor).
  • Gabe no longer is content with just lying on the floor all the time, or even spending time in the bouncy chair or swing. He wants to be SITTING. He will fuss until I sit him up and then he’s all smiles. However, he hasn’t completely mastered the art of sitting on his own, and falls after a while. Sometimes he does better than others. He just likes being in the action, and sitting like a grown up.
  • Gabe’s become quite the taste tester lately. He had mastered rice cereal last month and so this month we started some new stuff. He wasn’t sure he loved carrots – about ½ way through the bottle he’d had enough. So we’d just have ½ of a jar at a time. But tonight we tried sweet potatoes and he gobbled up the whole jar, and was looking for more. He’s also tried some little finger cereals like Cheerios (which just got mashed all over) and little tastes of bread, cinnamon roll, potato, banana, cucumber and lime. Lime was his favorite and he cried when we took it away. He’d suck and chew on it and then every couple of minutes he’d shudder and grimace. I wish I’d had my camera – it was cute.
  • Cory has become Gabe’s best bud. He gets so excited when Cory comes home from work. Today Cory was gone before Gabe woke up and all day Gabe seemed to be looking for Daddy. Cory didn’t get home until right before we were going to bed around 9:00, and Gabe was so excited. He curled up with him for a story and lots of smiles.
  • Gabe is becoming a bookworm, and I love it. We spend quite a bit of time together every day reading in our big comfy chair or lying on the floor together. We read board books, pop-up books, magazines – all kinds of stories. We even go to the library on a regular basis to get fun stories to read. I think part of it is selfish on my part as I love children’s books, but Gabe seems to get into it too. I hope that he develops a love of books and learning.
  • Gabe loves to pull funny faces. Lately his 2 signature faces are to stick his tounge out (which he does constantly), or suck his bottom lip under for a funny look. When someone smiles at him he’s also pretty great at giving a big gummy smile.
  • One of Gabe’s favorite things right now is to watch me dance and sing around the kitchen. He smiles, laughs and bangs his hands on his high chair tray. He really gets a kick out of mom making a fool out of herself. That will probably be par for the course as he grows up too.

There are so many fun things about Gabe that I wish I could share with everyone. Everyday is an adventure and a challenge. But I can’t think of any better challenge I could be working on right now. I just love this little guy to pieces!

6 months today!

Before we leave I thought I better snap a couple of pictures of Gabe today since he is officially 6 months old. We went to the dr yesterday and he's doing great. He's 15 lbs 11 oz (25% for his age), and 26 inches long (50% for his age). So he's like his dad - long and skinny. Other than that he's progressing and developing right on track!

It's hard to believe that it's been 1/2 of a year already. It goes way too fast, and it makes me sad. He's so fun right now though, squealing with delight at the cutest things, giving kisses like crazy, rolling around like there's no tomorrow. Lots of fun!

Oh - I thought it was fitting - this is the 100th post on the blog. Kind of interesting since it's a milestone for Gabe today.

Edited to add: Unfortunately there's something up with the blogger site, and it won't let me post my pictures. Cory's getting sick of waiting for me, so I'll have to post them when we get back. Sorry - they're really cute....

Leaving...

We're getting ready to leave this morning for the next week. We have franchise meetings in McCall, Idaho - so with all of the driving and the meetings we won't be back until Monday night. Hopefully we'll come back wiht some fun pictures. We are taking Gabe swimming for the first time, so that will warrant a few for sure! Hope you all have a great week!

Cory's new toy

Here's Cory's new toy - a 42 inch plasma tv. He earned the tv by buying a certain amount of products from one of our suppliers. (kind of like our trip to Hawaii - I think I'm liking this blind thing....) And because it didn't fit in our entertainment center, he felt he had to get a new one. It's fun to watch movies on, and it's always fun to get new furniture. I was sad to see the other entertainment center go. Cory built it, and I like having things he's made. I wish he could make more - he's really very talented.
